Why we do it
PLA is a plant-based material that helps replace conventional plastics while reducing carbon emissions. PLA biopolymers are paramount to fighting global pollution and climate change. They can be used for everything from appliances to packaging and fibres.
GBI is at the heart of this transformation. Our goal is to produce the most sustainable biopolymers in the world by creating biopolymer manufacturing plants that harness the latest technologies.

Our plans
We want GBI to become the lead company in sustainable biopolymers, and to get there, we’re focusing on three key areas:
- Build and operate a number of world class LA to PLA production facilities, partnering with regional industry leaders.
- Establish sugar or corn to LA production facilities, partnering with key players in the industry to supply the needed LA for the PLA production units.
- Develop a global sales and marketing network to support market development for and and sales of Embio PLA biopolymers.
